A: Each Cherry Blossom Princess represents a specific state, territory, or country during the annual National
Cherry Blossom Festival. This festival takes place each spring in Washington, DC. In addition to serving as ambassador, each
Princess has the opportunity to engage in a lively, inspiring, and interactive cultural and professional program with top
local, national, and international leaders.

Q: How old must you be to serve as a Cherry Blossom Princess?
A: Young women must between
the ages of 19 and 23 and not married.
Q: How are Cherry Blossom Princesses selected?
A: Princesses are chosen by the fifty (50) state and five (5) territory
societies and the international embassy community for their leadership, academic achievements, and interest in social, civic,
community and world affairs.
Q: What national leaders have past Princesses met and/or interacted with?
A: Past Cherry Blossom Princesses have had to opportunity to meet some of the following local and national leaders:
- Politics: First Lady Laura Bush, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson, State Senator Patsey Ticer
- Law: Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, Chief Justice William Rehnquist
- Non-Profit: Red Cross President and CEO Dr. Bernadine Healey
